The Balen Shah-led Kathmandu Metropolitan City has launched a comprehensive waste segregation program starting this April to manage the city's growing garbage crisis. Residents are now required to separate organic and inorganic waste at the source before collection. The administration has deployed specialized vehicles and monitoring teams to ensure compliance with these new regulations. This initiative is part of a larger plan to reduce the volume of waste sent to the Bancharedanda landfill and promote recycling and composting within the city limits. The city is also educating citizens on the benefits of sustainable waste management practices. बालेन शाहको नेतृत्वमा रहेको काठमाडौं महानगरपालिकाले सहरको बढ्दो फोहोर संकट व्यवस्थापन गर्न यस अप्रिलदेखि व्यापक फोहोर वर्गीकरण कार्यक्रम सुरु गरेको छ। बासिन्दाहरूले अब फोहोर संकलन गर्नुअघि नै स्रोतमा कुहिने र नकुहिने फोहोर छुट्टाछुट्टै राख्नुपर्नेछ। प्रशासनले यी नयाँ नियमहरूको पालना सुनिश्चित गर्न विशेष सवारी साधन र अनुगमन टोलीहरू परिचालन गरेको छ। यो पहल बञ्चरेडाँडा ल्याण्डफिलमा पठाइने फोहोरको मात्रा घटाउन र सहरभित्र पुन: प्रयोग र कम्पोस्टिङलाई बढावा दिने बृहत्तर योजनाको एक हिस्सा हो। महानगरले दिगो फोहोर व्यवस्थापनका फाइदाहरूका बारेमा नागरिकहरूलाई शिक्षित पनि गरिरहेको छ।
